Outreach and Education
"…conservation education of and about karst features and their environs…" – IKC Bylaws, Article 2, B
The Indiana Karst Conservancy actively participates in conservation outreach and education through a variety of activities, from co-hosting the annual Indiana Cave Symposium to holding quarterly field events at our preserves, having our booth at conferences and festivals, and partnering with other land trusts, agencies and organizations to hold events such as the Big Day for Birds with Indiana Audubon and Discovery Day at Henderson Park with The Nature Conservancy of Indiana.
We also host safety education and training programs for members and others through biennial Wilderness First Aid and Orientation to Cave Rescue courses, which we offer at a discount to members.
Stewardship days are an important way for us to accomplish tasks on our preserves and fit in with our mission of conservation outreach and education. We welcome volunteers!
The IKC is available for a limited number of additional outreach programs, by request.
Our upcoming events and stewardship opportunities can be found on our home page, our Facebook page and in our quarterly newsletter, the IKC Update.
